This Privacy Policy describes how ParkCount (“we”, “our”, or “the app”) handles your information. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our data practices.
Location Data
- Purpose: We request access to your device’s location solely to show nearby carparks and centre the map on your current position.
- Storage: Your location data is NOT stored, transmitted to our servers, or shared with third parties. It is only used in real-time within the app.
- Permissions: Location access is only requested when you use the map feature. You can control location permissions through your device settings at any time.
Locally Stored Data
- Pinned Carparks: When you save or pin carparks as favorites, this information is stored only on your device in local storage. This data never leaves your device and is not transmitted to our servers or any third parties.
Feedback and Bug Reports
- What We Collect: When you submit feedback or report a bug, we collect only the subject and description you provide.
- Purpose: This information is used solely to improve the app.
- Storage: Feedback is sent via email to our support inbox and is not stored in any database.
We do not collect, store, or process:
- Personal identification information (name, email, phone number, etc.)
- User accounts or login credentials
- Precise location history or tracking data
- Device identifiers for advertising purposes
- Any data for profiling or marketing purposes
Third-Party Services
Our app uses the following third-party services to provide functionality:
Google Maps API
- Purpose: Displays interactive maps and carpark locations
- Data Shared: Your device’s location (when you grant permission) to display the map centred on your position

Transport for NSW (TfNSW) API
- Purpose: Retrieves real-time carpark occupancy data
- Data Shared: No personal data is shared. We only request publicly available carpark information.

Amazon SES (Simple Email Service)
- Purpose: Sends your feedback and bug reports to our support inbox
- Data Shared: Only the subject and description you voluntarily provide

Navigation Apps
- Purpose: When you tap “Get Directions”, the app opens your chosen navigation app (Google Maps, Apple Maps, Waze, etc.)
- Data Shared: Only the destination carpark coordinates are shared with the navigation app you select
- Note: Once you leave our app, the privacy policy of your chosen navigation app applies
Data Storage and Security
- Local Storage: Pinned carparks are stored only on your device and are deleted if you uninstall the app
- Security: We implement appropriate technical measures to protect data transmitted through our services
Children’s Privacy
Our app does not knowingly collect information from children under 13. The app is designed for general audiences seeking parking information.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by updating the “Last Updated” date at the top of this policy. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Control location permissions through your device settings
- Delete locally stored data (pinned carparks) by clearing app data or uninstalling the app
